He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Darlene Slagle; his parents, David Slagle and Louise Slagle (Kast); his children, Theresa Nooney of Rapid City, Pam Kappel (Jeff) of Yankton, Larry Slagle of Yankton and Jeremie Slagle (Jill) of Fredericksburg, TX; his grandchildren, Jenny Pelissero (Steve), Jeffrey Kappel, Jared Nooney (Steph) and Ellie Nooney; his great grandchild Charlotte Reece Pelissero; and his siblings, Gladys Weeks, David Slagle (Nora), Joyce Schurman, Janet Paetow (Gene) and Cathie Merlino (Mike). He was also cherished by several cousins and many nieces and nephews.
