As Leon departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Leon. Though Leon may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonhard Steege and Eleanor Steege (Burdick); and his granddaughter Angel Holzbauer. He is survived by: his children, Kristopher Steege (Michelle) of Speedway, Indiana, Monica Steege of Tripp, Nancy Schaefer (Shawn) of Sioux Falls, Jon Steege (Robyn) of Gilbert, Arizona, Phil Steege of Armour, Thomas Steege of Sioux Falls and Catherine Konrad (Robert) of Tripp; and his sister Lois Steege of Hastings. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the River City Assembly of God Church (801 W 25th St, Yankton, SD 57078). A memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
