She was predeceased by: her father David Slagle Sr. The; her husband James Charles Schurman; her mother Louise Slagle (Kast); her grandchildren, Christian and Jaimie Steffen; her brother Marlin Slagle; and her brother-in-law Lyle "Bill" Weeks.
She is survived by: her daughters, Michele Gustad (Steve) of Volin, SD., Brenda Lee Willcuts (Steven) of Yankton, SD., Laurie Pieper (Mike) of Yankton, SD., Lynette Steffen (Randy) of Yankton, SD. and Cathy Cap (Kevin) of Houston, TX.; her siblings, Gladys Weeks of Minot, ND., Jan Paetow (Gene) of Sioux Falls, SD., Cathie Merlino (Mike) of Canon City, CO. and David Jr. Slagle (Nora) of Las Vegas, NV.; and her sister-in-law Darlene Slagle of Yankton, SD. She is also survived by 13 Grandchildren; 30 Great-Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory (601 W 21st St, Yankton, SD 57078). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 10:45 AM to 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Cemetery North Douglas (509 Capital St, Yankton, SD 57078).
