He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Barnes and Nila Potter (Miedema); his sons, Jonah and Jon; his father-in-law George Fish; his siblings-in-law, Tim Fish and Nicole Westerhuis; and his nieces and nephews, Michael, Connor Westerhuis, Jaeci and Kailey Westerhuis.
He is survived by: his wife Theresa Barnes of Yankton; his children, Caleb Barnes of Yankton, Luke Barnes (Brenna Stevens) of Sioux Falls, Calli Barnes of Yankton and Nathan Barnes of Yankton; and his sisters, Rebecca Miller (Mark) of Dixon, Illinois, Sylvia Anderson (JD) of Faulkton and Rachel Miller (Chris) of Kalispell, Montana. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
