He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Steffen and Colleta Steffen (Maly); his sisters, Ailene Carpenter, Angie Hill and Antonette Lange; his nephews, John, Christopher Steffen and Brad Lange (Kandi); his brothers-in-law, Quinten Lange, Duane Freidel (Sandy), Melvin Freidel (Carolyn) and Albert Hill; his parents-in-law, Charles Freidel and Rose Freidel; and also Ruth Steffen.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Freidel of Yankton; his children, Tim Steffen (Lois) and Kim Johnson (Kevin) of Wakonda; his grandchildren, Mandy of Tea, Corey and Mason of Wakonda; his brothers, Bill Steffen (Bonnie) of Waukee, IA, Leon Steffen (Linda) of St. Joseph, MO and Roman Steffen of Menominee, NE; and his sister-in-law Helen Machacek (Vern) of Platte, SD. He is also survived by his wife of 60 years, his family, and his many friends.
