With solemn reverence, we commemorate Viola Goergen of Woonsocket, South Dakota, whose life came to an end on February 11, 2025 at the age of 87, leaving behind cherished memories. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Smith and Edna Smith (Robbins); her son Lee Goergen; her great grandchild Rory Goergen; and her siblings, Helen Linke (Lloyd), Eileen Linke (Harold), Ruth Gaetze (Ivan) and Wayne Smith (Ila).
She is survived by: her children, Sandy Hahn (Kevin) of Wakonda, SD, Doug Houghton (Elizabeth) of Dover, FL, Rayna Goergen of Woonsocket, Kathy McWhorter (Pete) of Woonsocket, SD, Gary Goergen (Julie) of Omaha, NE and Brian Goergen (Chantelle) of Alexandria, SD; and her sister Karen Mattke (Jim) of Huron, SD. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the St. Wilfrid Catholic Church (203 N 2nd Ave, Woonsocket, SD 57385). A prayer was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
