He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Burgess Merritt and Helen Louise Merritt (Dwyer); his spouse Ardythe Kline; his great grandchild Austin Bowman; and his sister-in-law JoAnn Quellar.
He is survived by: his brother David Merritt (Kim) of Ola; his stepdaughters, Pat Glanzer (Levi) of Dilworth, MN, Susan May of Rapid City and Nancy Barco (Phil) of Chesapeake, VA; and his brother-in-law Kendall Groothius (Joey).
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to the American Cancer Society.
