He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Kounkel and Loretta Kounkel (Robinson); his children, Lori Kounkel and David Kounkel; and his brother Keith Kounkel.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Larson; his grandsons, Landon, Brody and Logan; his children, Jeff Kounkel of Iliff, CO, Jackie Davison (Dan) of Le Mars, IA, Molly Calhoon (Curt) of Ideal, SD and Troy Kounkel of Jasper, MN; and his brothers, Jack Kounkel (Connie) of Merrill, IA and Don "Hap" Kounkel (Sandy) of Merrill, IA. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
The public is invited to attend the graveside service while practicing social distancing as mandated by state and federal guidelines due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
