He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Kimmel and Lydia Kimmel (Remund); his parents-in-law, Thoralf and Esther Dahl; his brother-in-law Gene Sawinsky; and his niece Dana Holm.
He is survived by: his wife LaVerne Downer; his children, Steven Kimmel (Mary Ann) of Overton, NV, Nancy Kimmel (Mickey Swayze) of Wilmot, SD and Peggy Mundt (Curt) of Agar, SD; his grandchildren, Cody Kimmel (Lani) of Reno, NV, Lauren Kimmel of Overton, NV and Jacob Huff (Jessie) of Wilmot, SD; his sisters, Beverly Sawinsky of Aberdeen, SD and Anita; and his brother-in-law Arlan Holm of Fargo, ND. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
