He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Bassett and Mable Bassett (Hustad); his son-in-law Daniel Rice; his grandson Joseph Rondeau; his parents-in-law, Herman Hove and Iva Hove; and his sister-in-law Lavina Harris.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley of Wilmot, SD; his children, Kurt Bassett, Susan Bassett (Leemhuis) of Volga, SD, Rhonda Martenson, Doug Martenson of Sisseton, SD, Scott Bassett, Pastor Cheryl Bassett (Rondeau) of Wilmot, SD and Todd Bassett; his siblings, Dean Bassett (Vera) of Rapid City, SD and Sue Dollinger (DeLane) of Venturia, ND; his niece Cheri Meidinger (Darryl) of Prior Lake, MN; and his brothers-in-law, Earl Hove (Mary) of Tracy, CA and Bruce Harris of Brookings, SD. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren (four more on the way); one great-great-grandchild.
