He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Berger and Elizabeth Berger; his brother Donald; his half-siblings, Irene Ostwald and Bucky Courtney; and his grandson Evan Berger.
He is survived by: his sons, Paul (Kate) of Pierre and Keith of Whitewood; his wife Mary; and his daughter Rhonda Cutts (Dave) of Sturgis. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers memorials have been established to the First Presbyterian Church of Whitewood, the Whitewood Cemetery, and the Lippold Hospice Care Unit.
