He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Schmitt and Francis Schmitt (Liefeld); his wife Grace Schmitt (Prange); and his sisters, Joanita Meyers (Schmitt) and Geraldine O'hara (Schmitt).
He is survived by: his children, Barb Petersen (Randy) of Mora, MN, Deb Emmerich (John) of Cheyenne, WY, Bill Schmitt of Watertown, SD, Bob Schmitt (Cheryl) of Richland, WA and Carmen Dammarell-Medina (Arturo) of El Centro, CA. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Memorial donations in his name may be contributed to either the Watertown Hospice Program or the Watertown Meals-on-Wheels Program.
