He is survived by: his former wife Debra Jean Taylor; his wife Debra "Deb" Taylor Mahowald; his son Brian Mahowald of River Falls, WI; and his siblings, Chuck Mahowald, Denis Mahowald (Peg) of Huron, SD, Martin Mahowald (Betsy) of St. Cloud, MN, John Mahowald (Maryanne) of Sartell, MN, Joseph Mahowald (Elizabeth) of Bayside, NY and Ann Blondheim (Gene) of Huron, SD. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the CentraCare Heart and Vascular Center Integrated Health Program in St. Cloud, MN, Prairie Lakes Cancer Center in Watertown, SD; or Glacial Lakes Humane Society in Watertown.
