Janice Wermers Obituary
We bid farewell to Janice Wermers of Watertown, South Dakota, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on December 25, 2024 at the age of 87. Janice touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her husband Ray F. Wermers; her great grandchild Ray James Davisson; her siblings, Carol Bennett (Bob), Shirley Eich (Darell), Sister Madonna Schmitt and Duane Schmitt (Cheryl); and her siblings-in-law, Jim Wermers (Clarissa), Leo Wermers (Doris), Bill Wermers, George Willis, Iona Dutton (Art), Helen Wermers and Marie Wermers.
She is survived by: her children, Doni Davisson (John) of Raleigh, NC, Diane Steers (Bob) of Miller, SD and Marty (Jill) of Yankton, SD.; her grandchildren, Charlie Davisson (Hanna Jurgensen), Joey Davisson (Mindy), Daniel, Michael Davisson, Garett Steers (Laura), Emma Aesoph (Kody), Evan Steers (Teanna), Molly Steers (Brett) and Ray Wermers (Sara); and her siblings-in-law, Florence Willis of Sioux Falls, SD, Eunice Wermers of Spillville, IA and Herb Wermers of Pueblo, CO. She is also survived by several God-children and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 5th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel (1111 4th St NE, Watertown, SD 57201). A rosary was held on Sunday, January 5th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (110 3rd St SE, Watertown, SD 57201).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Catholic Community Foundation for Eastern South Dakota benefitting the Ray and Jan Wermers Endowment.
