She was predeceased by: her parents, William Midcap and Geraldine Midcap (Schauermann); her parents-in-law, Lester and Johanna Schull (Saathoff); her niece Elizabeth "Beth" Wood; and her siblings-in-law, Doreen Feeney (Doug) and David Hilftery.

She is survived by: her husband Lee Schull; her cousin Marines; her children, Kyle Schull (Chelsea) of Sioux Falls, SD, Kathryn "Katie" Henry (David) of Parker, CO, Kari Poehls (Kyle) of Watertown, SD and Collin Schull of Denver, CO; her siblings, Lynda Hilferty of Madrid, NE, Bill Midcap (Dana) of Santa Fe, NM and Jenese Hankins (Steve) of Fort Morgan, CO; and her sister-in-law Nancy Landes (Ed) of Tucson, AZ..

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the following foundations close to Jan's heart: the Semper Fi Fund, the Lake Area Technical College Foundation, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, or the St. Martin's Lutheran Church Building Fund.
