He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolph Weiss and Hertha Weiss (Rusch); his wife Carol Lind of Sinai; and his siblings, Arnold Weiss, Lillie Gloe (Weiss) and Lila Brown (Weiss).

He is survived by: his children, Kevin Weiss (Rose) of Vermillion and Karla Weiss of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Zach Weiss (Mandy), Kyle Weiss and Abby Johnson (Ryan); his great grandchildren, Aubrey Ploof and Corbin Johnson; and his sister Dorothy Mueller (Weiss).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Heart Association.
