He was predeceased by: his parents, Jake DeVries and Della DeVries (Erickson); his sister Elaine Larsen; his sons, Steve DeVries and Allan DeVries; his daughter-in-law Roxie DeVries; and his grandson Carson DeVries.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Westegaard; his children, David DeVries of Luverne, MN, Mike DeVries (Jaime) of Chester, SD and Laurie Gilmore of Monroe, SD.; his grandchildren, Jenny Hanson (Neal), Annie Dangel (Dan), Ben DeVries, Jesse DeVries (Blair), Lindsey McKenzie (Chris), Erin McNary (Mitch), Jake Bymers (Samantha) and Jared Bymers (Sarah); his great grandchildren, Brandon DeVries (Rosalyn), Nick, Olivia Hanson, Daniel, Garrett, Emily, Owen Dangel, Lewis, Otto McKenzie, Griffin, Max McNary, Nathan, Oliver, Henry Bymers, Natalie, Lucas and Isabella Bymers; his great great grandchild Nora DeVries (DeVries); his niece Roxie Phillips (Carlton); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Rachel and Brooke.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Bethany Lutheran Church (106 W Lincoln Ave, Viborg, SD 57070). A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
