He was predeceased by: his parents, Napoleon Bernard and Marie Bernard (Connors); his wife Barb (Lyle); his siblings, Bob, Jerry, Bill, Larry, Jeanne Marie and Mary Lou; and his sons-in-law, Daryl Kuper and Mike Mikuska.
He is survived by: his children, Shelly Bendert of Vermillion, Mariann Bernard (Bob Dixon) of Highlands Ranch, CO, Carol Vander Pol (Jon) of Platte, SD, Cindy Knudsen (Mark) of Vermillion and Lyle (Lynn) of Merrill, IA; and his siblings, Patricia Olson of Vermillion, Tim (Bonnie) of Hot Springs, SD and Tom (Barb) of Chadron, NE. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
