Though Derek may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Derek touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He is survived by: his parents, Robert and Judy of Montevideo; his sister Melissa (Chad Eichhorst); his nephew Matthew Eichhorst (Alexis Olson); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Alekzander, Paislee and Zachary Eichhorst (Kayla); and also, Blakely and McKendry.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 1:00 PM at 820 N Dakota St, Vermillion, SD 57069.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Vermillion Police Dept,, Fire Dept., or Dispatch.
