He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Anton Spindler (Elizabeth Spindler) and Elizabeth Spindler (Reineke); his children, David Spindler (Armina) of Browns Valley, MN, Theresa Granquist (Mark) of Milbank, SD and Peggie Aadland of Aberdeen, SD; his grandchildren, Joe Aadland (Sarah), Jess Falken (Shaun), Derek Granquist (Sajani), Jenna Galvin (Chris), Joe Colago and Lindsay Spindler; his great grandchildren, Maya, Elliot, Maxwell, Delainey, Chael, Charlee, Maddy, Asher and Kaden; his wife Ardelle Ives; and his sister Delores Biel.
