She was predeceased by: her parents, Bert Hughes and Katheryn Hughes (Johnson); her husband Kenneth Ackerman; her son Clinton (Solomon); and her sister Myrtle Orr.
She is survived by: her children, Brenda Walker (Richard) of Vermillion, Floyd Solomon of Vermillion, Wade Solomon (Penny) of Georgetown, Kentucky and Michael Solomon of Yankton; and her sisters, Mildred Brown (Douglas) of Vermillion and Carol Dirksen (Bill) of Corpus Christi, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
