He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Hejna and Helen Hejna; his parents-in-law, Raymond and Felicitas Schmidt; his brothers, Emil, Stephen and Clarence Hejna; and his siblings-in-law, Laddie Slama, Sharon Schmidt, Lila Hejna and Donna Hejna.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Schmidt; his daughters, Cynthia Hejna (Michael Houle) of Las Vegas, Nevada and Christine Hejna of Las Vegas, Nevada; his grandchildren, Gracie Ann Houle, Lilly Felice Houle and Cade Alek Daniels-Hejna; and his siblings, Elizabeth "Betty" Slama of Tabor, Kenneth Hejna (Agnes) of Tabor, Larry Hejna of Las Vegas, Robert Hejna (Kathy) of Tabor, Darrold Schmidt (Jean), Rodney Schmidt of St. Helena, Neb, Arlynn Schmidt (Dorothy) of Elk Point and Marvin "Butch" Schmidt (Marlene) of Fordyce, Neb. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
