He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Wilhelm Schenkel and Sarah Schenkel (Diede); his wife Lillian Schenkel of Utica; his children, Daniel (Linda) of Yankton, David (Julie) of Tyndall, Dale (Mary Beth) of Yankton, Darrell (Rhonda) of Sioux Falls, LeAnn Kniffen (Nicholas) of Tyndall and Lorraine Sorenson (Pete) of Tabor; his sisters, Darlene Mutschelknaus and Wilma Luke (Warren); his son Douglas Schenkel; his daughter-in-law Mary Ann Schenkel; his brother Vernon Schenkel; and his siblings-in-law, Minnie Schenkel and Filmore Mutschelknaus. He was also cherished by 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great- great- grandchild.
