He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hajek and Clara Hajek (Humpal); his sister Maybelle Headrick (Jim); his niece Catherine Carda; and his brothers-in-law, Eugene Kriz (Agnes) and Wes Cimpl.

He is survived by: his wife Mary; his sister Evelyn Cimpl; and his nieces and nephews, Cindy Tycz (Dennis), Dennis Carda (Cheri Montileaux), Jerry Carda (Diane), Jeff Carda (Lisa), Dave Kriz (Julie), Tami Bryant, Melissa Kolda (Kevin) and Sandy Porter (Chris).
