LaVern Alvin Schaefer Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of LaVern Alvin Schaefer of Tripp, South Dakota, who passed away on May 20, 2022 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Simon Schaefer and Alvina Schaefer (Giegle); his parents-in-law, Paul and Louise Weisser; his siblings, Vesta Nuss, Norman, Gilbert, Victor and Wilbur; his siblings-in-law, Ione Schaefer, Velma Schaefer, Velda Mehlhaff, Shirley Block, Darlene Weisser, Hazel Niemcyk, Eugene Nuss, Ruben Mehlhaff, Frank Block and Harvey Weisser; his nephews, Wayne Odegaard, Roger Mehlhaff and Paul Saenz; and his great-nephew Josh Odegaard.
He is survived by: his wife Arlene Schaefer of Tripp, SD; his children, Lila Schaefer of Watertown, SD, Allen Schaefer of Rapid City, SD, Marilyn Fischer (Tim) of Rapid City, SD and Barbara Schaefer of Watertown, SD; his grandson Matt Fischer (Alia Cota); and his great grandchildren, Jordan Fischer of Nampa, ID, Kyle Fischer of Northwood, ND and Charlotte Cota of Northwood, ND. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Lavern was a member of Friedens Reformed Church and served on the Consistory, Foundation Committee and later custodian at the church.
