She was predeceased by: her parents, Jacob Dewald and Emelia Dewald (Heinrich); her husband Harold Alvin Schmidt; her son Donnie Schmidt; her grandson Alex Schmidt; and her siblings, Gertie Hieb, Phyllis Brosz, Eunice Dewald, Alice Dewald, Olivia Vetter and Ray Dewald.
She is survived by: her sons, Robert Schmidt (Bernita) of Tripp and Charles Schmidt (Barb) of Washington State; her daughter-in-law Joann Schmidt of Freeman; and her grandchildren, Eric Schmidt, Brent Schmidt, Amanda Johnson, Brandon Schmidt, Gina Hieb, Stacy Schmidt, Michael Schmidt, Kyle Schmidt and Travis Schmidt. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
