He was predeceased by: his sister Norma (Bob) of Sonne; and his siblings-in-law, Paul O'Donnell, William Kieser, David Watters and Bonnie Birger.
He is survived by: his wife Verlene of Tea, SD; his children, Jennifer Miller (Paul) of Tea, SD, Chad Birger (Jerri) of Tea, SD and Adam Birger (Jessica) of Tea, SD; and his siblings, Thelma O'Donnell of Danielson, CT, Wilma Sonne (Lennis) of Huntsville, AL, Phyllis Kieser of St. Paul, MN, Larry Birger (Judi) of Jamestown, ND, Sherrill Watters of White, Doug Birger of Sioux Falls, SD, Pam Martin (Ron) of Tyler, TX and David Birger of Sioux Falls, SD.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
