He was predeceased by: his parents, Avert Charles and Ellen Minnie Cardwell (Fitz); his son Steven Cardwell; his grandson Joseph Lauritsen; and his siblings, Florence Lowery, Gene Cardwell and Gerald Cardwell.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Lauritsen of Florence, SD and David Cardwell (Penny) of Summit, SD; his granddaughter Chelsea Bailey (Orion) of Elgin, OK; his children, Jason Cardwell of Summit, SD, Taylor Hyatt (Brady) of Florence, SD, Kiara Harper (Gavin) of Summit, SD, Erin Lauritsen of Florence, SD and Noah Lauritsen (Mallory Bisgard) of Watertown, SD; and his great grandchildren, Easton, Makenna, Riggs, Bailee, Lakelyn and Ronan. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
