He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, LeRoy Thompson and Lois Thompson; his former spouse Rosalita Fritz; his wife Rosy; his stepchildren, Veronica Kusser (Justin), Donavan Schoon (Renae) and Gregory Schoon (Trish); his sister Nancy Harlan (Phil); his nephew Daniel Harlan (Beth); his son Matthew James; and his nephew Peter Harlan (Megan Donohue).
On October 31, 2020, Ed was admitted to Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City and was diagnosed with COVID-19.
