He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Keith McKay of Sturgis and Louise McKay (Ziegler); his former wife Janice Cronin; his wife Candy; his stepchildren, Brad Humpal and JaNohn Thacker of Gillette, WY; his brother Scott McKay (Liz) of Colorado; his niece Allison of Colorado; his nephew Billy of Colorado; his sister-in-law Betty Reed of Wheatland; his grandchildren, Niveah, Benton, Jersey Thacker, Braizyn and Pyper Humpal; his brother Tom Reed; his uncle Bob; and his aunt Bernice Murphey.
