He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Schmig and Dorothy Schmig (Pierce); his children, Roy Boone, Theresa Schmig and Bob Boone; and his siblings, Leo Schmig and Deborah Schmig.
He is survived by: his wife Joanne Boone of Stockholm, SD; his children, Denise Kluess (Troy) of Shakopee, MN, Nathan Schmig (Cherri) of Minneota, MN and Becky Moorse (Greg) of Minneota, MN; his daughters-in-law, Karla Boone of Blomkest, MN and Toni Boone; his siblings, LaVerne Schmig (Rose), Lois VanVelzen, Lester Schmig (Jean), Don Schmig (Rose), Sally Swan and Duane Schmig (Ronda); and his pet Bandit. He is also survived by his family, neighbors, fellow ranchers, and dear friends.
