He was predeceased by: his parents, Tony Niewenhuis and Dena Niewenhuis (Kuyper); his wife Esther; his sons, Harlan Edwin and Mark Edwin; his stepson Kevin Rogers; his siblings, Wilma DeWaard (Charles), Dorothy Van Der (Alfred) and Alden Niewenhuis; and his brother-in-law Dick DeWaard.
He is survived by: his wife Mae of Stickney; his children, Doris Metzger (Russell) of Corsica and Keith Niewenhuis (Michelle) of San Antonio, TX; his stepson Jerry Rogers (Denise) of Littleton, CO; his daughter-in-law Linda Kredit (Curt) of Mitchell; his sister Lenora Gruenewald of Corsica; and his sisters-in-law, Mildred Niewenhuis of Stickney, Ruby Bult of Corsica and Ruth Burma (Harry) of Platte. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
