Hofer and Susie Hofer (Wipf); his wife Elizabeth Stahl Hofer; his daughters, Janie Bares (Tom) and Brenda McGruder (Randall); his grandchildren, Tony Bares (Angie), Valerie Reed (David), Nathan McGruder (Ellise) and Wade McGruder (Jessica); his great grandchildren, Layne, Alli, Daniel, Melodie and Jaxon; and his sister Rose Dietrich (Darrel). He was also cherished by numerous nephews and nieces.
