He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Odens and Jennie Odens (Deroos); his parents-in-law, Fred and Sue Dykman; his siblings, Charlotte Mudder (Marvin), Naomi Hale (Fritz), Carol Ferwerda, Phillip G. Odens and Delbert Odens; his brother-in-law LeRoy Jochims; and his grandson Nicholas Odens.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy Ann Odens; his sons, Doug Odens (Jodi) of Wagner, SD, Mike Odens (Katie), Don Odens and Mick Odens (Patti); his brothers, Darrel Odens (Elaine) of Avon, SD and Chuck Odens (Joan); and his siblings-in-law, Harlan Ferwerda and Ilene Pudwill (Bob).

Memorials are requested to the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield, SD to help subsidize tuition for youth to attend church camp or to the charity of your choice.

“I went to see Mr Odens in his superintendent’s office in Stickney High School in 1975. I was 17, a senior, newly married and expecting a baby in the spring of 76. I was so very ill with morning sickness for the entire 9 months but I really wanted to graduate and Mr Odens made that happen. He told me that as long as I kept my grades up I could come and go whenever I needed to. He was a true blessing in my life and I will always remember that very generous act of kindness. Connie Bormann”
