Robert L. Nielsen Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Robert L. Nielsen of Spearfish, South Dakota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 24, 2025 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Nielsen and Florence Nielsen (McGinnis); his wife Rose Marie (Helsper); his siblings, Rolland Nielsen and Joann Inks; and his sister-in-law Ella Vee.
He is survived by: his children, Scott Nielsen (Beth) of Spearfish, Tina Hamlin (Mark) of Highmore, Brian Nielsen (Amy) of Oacoma and Duane Nielsen of Highmore; his grandchildren, Brandi (Gary), Cole (Stacey), Weston Hamlin, Elaina and Evan Nielsen; his stepgrandchildren, Caleb and Brennan Schuette; his great grandchildren, Milo and Cass Hamlin; his sister Arlene Nielsen; and his siblings-in-law, Jim Helsper (Trena), Kathleen Kallenberger and Michael Helsper (Carol).
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2nd 2025 at 9:30 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (311 Parker Ave, Highmore, SD 57345). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 2nd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 2nd 2025 at 11:30 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery (311 Parker Ave, Highmore, SD 57345).
This sparked his interest in making a contribution to the McCrossan Boys Ranch, which led to the Robert L. Nielsen McCrossan Visitor Center.
