He was predeceased by: his parents, Mario Eduardo Mendez Martinez and Pila Ruiz of Velasco Villasenor; his son Alberto Mendez; his grandson Alberto Mendez Jr.; and his siblings, Carlos, Mario Mendez and Dulce Mendez.
He is survived by: his wife Alicia Calvillo Mendoza of Spearfish; his children, Dulce Mendez of Spearfish, Adrian Mendez of Mexico and Oscar Mendez Jr. of Spearfish; his grandsons, Cesar Mendez of Arizona and Erick Mendez of Spearfish; and his sisters, Carmen and Lucia Mendez of Guadalajara Mexico.
