We are sad to announce that on February 20, 2025 we had to say goodbye to Darlene I Aker-Hoon of Spearfish, South Dakota. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Brick and Ida Brick; her husband Merlyn Aker; her former husband Sylvester Hoon; her siblings, Donna Jean Kopecky, Richard Brick, Melvin "Bud" Kopecky, Marvin Kopecky, Bernie Kopecky, David Kopecky, Robert Brick, Kenny Brick and Ronnie Brick; and her granddaughter Sara Hoon.
She is survived by: her siblings, Sally Elsperger and Donald "Mick" Brick of Bath, SD.; and her children, Deb Schmidt (Dan) of Whitewood, Cindy Ladner (Art Askland) of Rapid City, Alan Aker (Heidi) of Piedmont, Scott Aker of Cheyenne, WY, David Hoon (Penny) of Humboldt, SD, Charlene Kruse (Randy) of Adrian, MN and Rick Hoon (Dawn) of Aberdeen, SD. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (920 Fillmore St, Whitewood, SD 57793). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Whitewood Cemetery (1020 Hooker St, Whitewood, SD 57793).
The family asks that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to the Spearfish Senior Center where Darlene often played cards.
