He was predeceased by: his parents, James Hartwell and Cleta Hartwell (Perkins); his wife Betty; and his children, Alberta, Arthur Jr. and Dick.
He is survived by: his children, Janell, Brenda of Spearfish, SD and Jim (Martina) of Belle Fourche, SD; and his grandchildren, Tyson Hartwell, AJ Hartwell (Kayla), Shantel Hartwell and Nicholas Hartwell. He is also survived by three great-granddaughters.
