With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Truman Nelson of Sisseton, South Dakota, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Nelson (Lenz) and Miles Nelson; his spouse Nova Opsal; his sister Connie; and his brothers-in-law, Eldon Martenson (Skookie) and Myles Johnson.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Clay Finnesand, Crystal Hoffman, Naomi Nelson, Miles Nelson, Britt Wickett, Brock Wickett, Kendra Benedetto, Erica Kilgore and Hadley Meyer; his great grandchildren, Cinder, Brinley, Chauncey Hoffman, Ripley, Ronan Colyer, Elijah, Samuel Nelson, Jaxton, Brodie Wickett, Lonnie Wickett, Roma, Rosie Benedetto, Truman and Lakeyn Kilgore; his son-in-law Calvin Finnesand; his children, Liz Finnesand (Calvin) of Peever, SD, Ken Nelson (Bonnie) of Sisseton, SD, Kris Wickett (Matt) of Brandon, SD and Kathy Meyer (Paul) of Rosholt, SD; his sister Carol Jean Martenson of Sisseton, SD; and his sisters-in-law, Barbara Gray (Richard) of Westminster, CO, Sharon Schmaus of St Paul, MN, Judy Opsal of St Michael, MN and Cheryl Long (Jim) of New Effington, SD.. He is also survived by Four step-grandchildren, 14 step great-grandchildren, and one great-great step-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 13th 2024 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Grace Lutheran Church (421 3rd Ave E, Sisseton, SD 57262). A prayer was held on Wednesday, November 13th 2024 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A memorial service was held on Thursday, November 14th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
He was on the Agency Township board and the Rau Foundation up until his death.
