It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Johnston of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, born in Mitchell, South Dakota, who passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let his loved ones carry forward the torch of his memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of his love and the brilliance of his spirit. Though William may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, his essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick Johnston and Gertrude Johnston (Weber); his brothers, James and Larry Johnston; his nephews, Terry Sorenson and Kurt Mee; and his niece Julie Mericle.
He is survived by: his siblings, Gene Johnston (Barbara) of Alexandria, SD, Betty Mellor (Alan) of Ocala, FL, Joan Dunn (Ronald) of Sioux Falls, SD and Marcia Maiers (Dennis) of Sioux Falls, SD. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. Michael Catholic Church (1600 S Marion Rd, Sioux Falls, SD 57106). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 28th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Monday, April 28th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the St. Martin Catholic Cemetery.
