It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vera Betty Braley of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, who passed away on August 24, 2024, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As we bid adieu to Vera Betty's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in her wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Vera Betty has bequeathed us. For though she may have departed from our sight, her spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Olaf Olson and Alfel Olson; and her husband Duane Braley. She is survived by: her children, Richard of Sioux Falls, Tom of Watertown, David of Hill City, Paulette Newman of Rapid City and Betty Jo Morgan of Sioux Falls; and her brother Jarvis of Hill City. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

“I remember a sound from long ago when I was young. Whenever the family gathered for some occasion, late in the evening you would find the girls gathered around the kitchen table and you could hear the laughter and the full, beautiful sound of Vera’s voice. The Olson Girls choir is together once again and I’m sure my mother, Ethel, will be one of the first to welcome her little sister home. Late tonight, if you listen very carefully, I’m sure you will hear that sound again. Bob and Karen D.”
