She was predeceased by: her brother Robert Mowery; and her nephew Ryan Meerdink. She is survived by: her parents, Hugh Mowery of Sacramento, CA and Donna Mowery of Sioux Falls, SD; her children, Brent Mowery and Ava MoweryCarlson of Sioux Falls, SD; her sisters, Debbie Mowery of Sioux Falls, SD and Donna Meerdink (Dan) of Hull, IA; and her nieces and nephews, Joshua Mowery, Shane Meerdink, Nolan Meerdink, Kara Meerdink and Logan Buysse.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Susan's family.

“Susan was my sister. She was not ordinary, she was exceptional and extraordinary. She loved whole heartedly, smile contagiously, gave effortlessly, saw with childlike eyes. She never judged people, she excepted people and then loved them. The biggest loves of her life were her kids Brent and Ava. She was the kindest most decent human I have ever known. She went through hardships and would overcome them or adjust to them. Even as she breathed her last breaths she did so in dignity. I LOVE her!”
