He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth Elkjer (Browne) and Erwin Elkjer; and his brothers, Neil and Jon Elkjer. He is survived by: his daughter Margaret; his wife Barbara Elkjer; his children, Holly Elkjer-Klein (Kolin), Patrick Elkjer and Timothy Elkjer; his grandchildren, Mark, Luke, Catherine, Weston, Kingston and Owen; his siblings, Bill Elkjer (Edie), David Elkjer (Cindi), Joe Elkjer (Jenny), Mary Steele (Steve), Therese Goraj (Rich) and Ann Doyle (Mike); and his sisters-in-law, Marlene Mahlstedt and Patty Meier. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations/memorials may be made to St. Joseph Indian School in Chamberlain, SD in memory of Stephen Elkjer.
