He was predeceased by: his sisters, Gladys Knopf (Ness) and Ramona Rudebusch; his parents, Elmer Knopf and Gladys Knopf; his siblings, Dixie Knopf, Shirley Rudebusch (Bud), Patricia Rollings, Vivian Schmeling (Don), Joyce Roberts (Jim), Douglas, Elmer Jr., Robert and Homer Knopf; and his siblings-in-law, Bob Rudebusch and Aleda Knopf.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene; his children, Tammy Bruggeman (Paul) and Brian Knopf (Yvette); his grandchildren, Molly Bruggeman, Adam Bruggeman, Kaylee Knopf, Elisa Knopf, Megan Benson (Brad Kroger) and Brittney Crooks (Brandon); his great grandchildren, Jaelyn, Noah, Ashlyn, Ashton and Axel; his brothers, Gene Knopf of Sioux Falls and Jim Knopf (Sharon) of Sioux Falls; and his sisters-in-law, Anna Marie Knopf, Sioux Falls and Marlene Knopf. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
