She was predeceased by: her parents, John Kappenman and Laura Kappenman (Ehert); her husband Gene Phelps; her son Mike; her son-in-law Gil Koetzle; her stepgrandson Bode Lloyd; her grandson-in-law Jason Nolte; and her siblings, Dr. James Kappenman (Rosemary), Dr. Steven Kappenman (Gloria), Lester Kappenman (Lorraine) and Evelyn Hein-Klein (Wayne).
She is survived by: her children, Deb Koetzle of Sioux Falls, Jim Phelps (Theresa) of Sioux Falls, Mary Ellen Taylor of Sioux Falls and Michelle Gullickson (Scott) of Sioux Falls. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; 18 ¾ great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Mask usage and social distancing are required at both the funeral home and the church.
