Though Richard Walter may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Downing and Gertrude Downing (Craighead); and his son Steven Downing. He is survived by: his wife Hilma Sederberg; his daughters, Linda Baird (Kirk) of Red Oak, IA and Brenda Stokke (Todd) of Lake Preston, SD; and his grandchildren, Jackie Viet (John), Heather Bonetti (Jarred), Jordan Baird (Alicia), Robin Aslesen Ankeny (Ben) and Chris Stokke (Mickelle). He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. John American Lutheran Church (1912 W 13th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57105). A burial will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at the Mamre Cemetery.
