With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Phil M. Kappen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Phil left this world on April 3, 2025 at the age of 70, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Kappen and Rosetta Kappen (Dorsman); his stepfather Milton Gehring; and his father-in-law Ralph Bickner. He is survived by: his wife Diana Kappen; his children, Kelly Kappen (Vince) and Michael Kappen (Rachel); his brothers, Paul Kappen (Julie) and David Gehring (Mariolina); his mother-in-law Maxine Bickner; his uncle Ron Dorsman; and his aunts, Jean Kroeger and Carol Brynjulson.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and at 5:00 PM at the Miller Funeral Home Downtown Chapel (507 S Main Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary Church (2109 S 5th Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57105). A burial was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the St. Margaret Catholic Cemetery (417 S Elm St, Kimball, SD 57355).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the National Arbor Day Association.
