He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo S. Bender and Violet Bender (Dice); his daughter Barbara Howard; his brother Jim Bender; his niece Sherry Palmer; and his close friend Skip Hollestelle.
He is survived by: his children, Katie Howard (Paul), Zachary Bender, Rosie Howard (Trav) and Jennifer Cookson Cáceres (Carlos); his grandchildren, Brandin Howard, Mela Howard, Kennedy Howard, Winnie Haukaas, Cici Haukaas, William Haukaas, Penelope Brandis, Mary Cáceres and Laura Cáceres; his great grandchild Mariana Howard; and his siblings, Betty Bender of Clearwater, FL, Diane Kingsley (Gary), Carol McCarty (Jeff), John Bender (Vicky), Bob Bender (Deb) and Ed Bender. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
