It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Fennimore Cooper Jr. of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, born in Freeman, South Dakota, who passed away on September 23, 2020, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James F. Sr. Cooper and Sadie Cooper (Wipf); his former wives, Phyllis Cooper and Bettye Cooper; and his sister Doris Crawford.
He is survived by: his former wife Phyllis Alverson; his son Jim Cooper IV (Kathy); his grandson Jim Cooper V; his wife Autumn; his great grandchildren, Liam Wilson, Quinlan Wilson, Tenley Cooper and Emma Cooper; his stepsons, Robert Smithback (Nancy), Thomas Smithback (Donna) and Ted Smithback (Cindy); his close friend Joyce R. Hoefert of Hartford, SD; his friend Keith Bergh of Sioux Falls; and his pet Tucker. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
