He was predeceased by: his parents, Ross Barber and Iona Barber (Whitaker); his wife Yoshiko Barber (Arai); and his siblings, Kenneth "Bud", Donald, Willis, Eugene, Ramona Boehrns (Barber) and Georgia Thornberry (Barber).
He is survived by: his children, James D. Barber, Jr. (Christine) and Brenda Thompson (Todd); his siblings, Annadell Loewen (Barber), Ronald (Onalea) and Calvin Barber (Therese); his grandchildren, Ashley Enderle (Alex), Lauren Weirich (Jon), Derek Thompson and Garrett Thompson; and his great grandchild Branson Enderle.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Spring or Summer of 2021, when COVID conditions allow for gatherings.
